I do wish the pharmaceutical companies when packaging up pills into the little foil wrapped sheets for us to take would leave more space around the pills for us to write what the schedule to take them was, so one could see if one's already taken the dose, specially for someone like me with a not-brilliant memory. Have just been started on amitriptyline (25mg tablet/day) as pain management for chronic sciatica (ish, not presenting as normal sciatica in that it's in the top of thigh/groin area & MRI shows nothing untoward round L1. L4/L5 injury is a different kettle of fish & a different pain presentation).

If no one's already done pills with space to write or print the schedule on, remember folks you saw the idea here first ;)
(off to google it next...)

Bluerose has one of those pill boxes that holds a week's pills as he forgets too. He puts them all in first day and then knows what he's taken. I had the 4 compartment one but forgot to take it downstairs when I went and had more pills there and then when I went up hadn't used those and...

My dad has a pill box for his multiple diabetes pills. Keeps it all simple and you know if you've taken that day's or not.

I always label my malaria tablets before travelling. I use a permanent marker pen (cd pens are good, I have thin-nibbed ones) and put the dates on the white plastic side. Works really well, as it's BAD to miss your malaria dose. You do have to write small though!

"The Pill" has the days of the week marked on it, but I guess for other pills the dose can vary depending on the doctor's prescription. [livejournal.com profile] motodraconis has a good idea there. I was lucky with my antibiotics that I needed to take two per day, evenly spread through the day, and the pills came in a packet of two rows.

I can't think of anything to add besides the already suggested many-slotted pill box.
