sitting here on the floor, humming loudly (it doesn't know the words?) and blasting a something hooge CFM stream of cold air on my back (it's behind me, see) is the SGI Personal IRIS 4D/35 thing I acquired for [livejournal.com profile] meltie from a friend of Ashers (Ta Asher & Tim). Running IRIX 5.2. Now what?

Hey, you don't mess with these old computers because you want to get with the modern programs, you know.

Ehhh, CP/M boots happily on the Shades emulator (and on its intended replacement). In fact, the assembler/linker/debugger all run inside the emulator too..

At some point, I'll probably ask you for a URL for a GPL'd PDP11 emulator...

I have plenty of copies of RT-11, ta! Trouble is, they are on disks formatted for a disk controller I wrote the driver for...could involve lots of hackery to read them on a PC drive.

Who cares about Y2k, the whole point of using stuff like that is to live in the past!

Mmmmm. Oh, I found that root password for the Bull machine. But I've since lost the piece of paper it came on. :) It's around anyway. I also have those UPS on my floor. Want?
