only one hting better than making a LED go on and off, is if that output is connected to something big and chunky and one can make it move by turning outputs on and off.
Valves and motors too are fun. I used to *enjoy* doing process controll stuff and ladder logic (simulating relay control stuff) to actually make things physically happen...
