Jan. 13th, 2003 04:45 pmHmmm, may slightly have miscalculated by buying an Asus P4T-E motherboard a year ago. It takes Rambus Memory Modules, which, at the time, were not that much more expensive than the more common Synchronous DRAM modules, and were quite fast.
Got a Gb of RAM in it (4 off 256Mb PC800 RIMMs). Come to look for 2Gb of RIMMs for it (running a lot of VMs, needs oodles of memory), 4 off 512Mb RIMMs. Not many people do them. Find Kingston & thence [Orca].
Who want 690 quid PER stick. So that's a mere 2800 or so pounds .
Fuck me.
Time for a new motherboard with 2Gb of DDR or whatever is current common memory I think!
Then sell the 4 off 256Mb RIMMS from this current motherboard on Ebay or something. Seems to be worth their weight in %ELEMENT% (wanders off to find weight/element ratio. Wonder if there is a website for that :)
