Want to save money by cancelling the Sky+ subscription. Seems the BBC & ITV are changing their Free To View thingies, with the BBC having switched to FTA (Free To Air, no card at all needed) with ITV C4 & 5 still FTV but needing to have a subscription on Sky - existing Free To View cards get canned sometime soon (apparently, [LogoFreeTV] has lots of good info)

And we can't get Freeview (digital terrestrial broadcasting received via a rooftop aerial rather than via a satellite) here either, according to their [postcode checker].

So, no DSL, no cable, expensive satellite.
Brilliant.
My cunning plan to convert everyone into R4 FM listeners (**1) seems to be coming along nicely.

oops, missed opportunity

Had a BT engineer out here today (< lj user=mindygoth>s bussiness analogue line is down) and was wittering away (mainly we were agreeing how crap digital services round here are ;) and I forgot to take the opportunity to ask him what the job situation in BT (south downs district here) was like...

Apart from dealing with angry irate customers or having to go work in their smelly houses, I could easily do the sort of stuff they do.
