sods law
struck again. Yesteray I had mentioned how good my Viking steel kneelie chair was, two years service from it and still going well compared to the previous shitty wooden chairs which broke within 4 months of purchase.
Of course it broke on me today ; fortunatly as I was standing up - cast metal thingy at top of the gaslift sheared in half from a round bar it connected to. New one on order with Viking (60 quid or so, so still a bargain at 30quid/year for very comfortable chair)
May now have to go spend several hundred quid on an arc welder to fix up the old chair though :)

I've got to agree about steel kneely chairs. I'm sitting on one right now :) I'm sure mine didn't cost as much as that, though -- it was more like £45, from Staples in Crawley...
I keep meaning to ask work to get me one for there. So much more comfy than the chairs we have in the office...

So, for how long have you been looking for an excuse to buy an arc welder?
