Randomly channel zapping & stumbled across this on the box last night. quite captivating. (bint with lovley red hair, running round a German city.) English subtitles, perfect for watching whilst the mindygoth snored away next to me :)
Yeah - I quite enjoyed it. I'd heard good things about it in Time Out when it was on cinematic release, but I ultimately decided that it wasn't a film that I wanted to spend cinema prices on.
ATI video/TV card. It does the Tivo thing (pause to hard disk, yes?) though I never use that. Unfortunately I keep recording things and I never get around to watching them, so I have about 20G worth cluttering the place up.
... but you left off the most important thing about it, it's a multiple parallel universe Sci-Fi film, like Sliding Doors but different!
I first read about the film when it was part of the London Film Festival, then I hunted down a VHS copy, and now I've owned the DVD for a while.
For those that haven't seen it ...
Young man acting as a courier for "the mob" collects a big bag of money as the result of a drug deal and then leaves it on the tube. The "mob" will kill him unless he can come up with an identically large lump of cash in a very short time (30mins? 60mins? can't recall). So he phones up his red-haired girlfriend (whose father is a bank manager) and tells her the situation and she runs runs runs across town, narrowly avoiding being run down or running into people etc. trying to get the money ...
... and then they run the film back to where she gets the call and she does the same things again but this time one small incident changes (she gets hit by the car, she doesn't bump into someone etc.) and the result is different ...
... and then they do it again!
Wonderful film and I seem to recall a reasonable ending too (or possibly three!)
There's a large sheet of glass at one point, and if you watch in slow motion you can see them setting off the charges that shatter the glass just in time!
