Paintshop Pro has an animation extra. I don't know about the trial version though. I'd have thought that there'd be public domain or shareware utilities to do the job from a bunch of images, as it's not exactly a difficult file format.

ta, have an ancient version of painshop pro , probably saying "you are on day 3000 of your 30 day trial period" I think :)

May have to invest in an uptodate version

The anim stuff was a separate exe, not built-in to the main app. Well, that's the case with version 6.
