fucking computers.
new Asus P4P800 motherboard + 2.6GHz P4 + 512Mb RAM for MILs new system (she's been complaining that her old one was running like a dog since we "upgraded" it from win98 to win2K. I recommended sticking more RAM in it, decision was taken to get her a new setup instead)
install win2k sp4. fine,
add device drivers for onbard NIC sound & intel chipset update, fine
add nVidea graphics drivers. not fine, computer fails to finish starting up screen.

grr....

There's a lot to be said for just buying Dells and having them all f'ing well preconfigured instead of this buggering about with parts...

Blimey.

I hate it when people get an aura about their system - "it'll never work", "It's always got viruses" etc, and these things can be fixed if only people tried.

No no, throw it away, buy a totally new one. Grrrr.

"fucking computers" and "buggering about with parts"... you'd be better off trying it with a woman, love.
